About us
CINEPHILIA.NET is an independent Chinese film website founded by Xubin ZHU, a Chinese film critic currently based in Denmark.
Since its launching in January, 2010, the website has quickly established itself as one of the most professional and important Chinese-language film websites. The website has attracted both renowned young film scholars and grass-root critics, as well as the best journalists from other media.
After its launch, CINEPHILIA has cooperated with major Chinese media and sent film critics and journalists to attend many filmfestival:

In addition to reports by film critics and interviews with filmmakers, CINEPHILIA has also adopted the system of rating by independent film critics to evaluate the films being screened in these major international film festivals. CINEPHILIA is the first to embrace this common practice in international film festivals in the history of Chinese-language cinema. From its conception, the website intends to hold on a neutral critical stance. It is also in the hope to avoid political disturbance that CINEPHILIA has purchased the server service outside China. For the time being, CINEPHILIA is growing increasingly influential in the Chinese-language film circle and has attracted a lot of film critics of Chinese descent who attend to the development of Chinese-language cinemas, including Kwanleung KUO, U.N. translator, staff of Paris Film Archive, and Grace WANG, column writer of Roger Ebert, a film website under the name of the famous film critic Roger Ebert. It is mentioned in an article on the young Chinese film critics published in The Chicago Sun-Times that CINEPHILIA.NET is ”a group of quality film critics”.
